GlobalGAP
This protocol requires growers be able to demonstrate their commitment to maintaining consumer confidence in food quality and safety; minimizing negative impacts on the environment; reducing the use of agrichemicals where possible and ensuring a responsible attitude towards worker health and safety.
The slide show below illustrates the steps involved in assuring that our Medjool dates meet the utmost standards of quality and safety.
Certification

A swab is taken to test for the presence of bacteria on the packing line.

In the laboratory, samples of fruit are tested to ensure their cleanliness.

Medjool dates are processed and then tested for possible contamination.
Security

The fruit is pasteurized at high temperatures in secure drying rooms.
Quality

Hair nets, beard nets, aprons and gloves are worn during handling and packing of the dates.

Dates are diligently sorted by hand and by machine to ensure high quality.

Training is an integral part of our thorough food safety program.
Cleanliness

Wash stations are readily available in the field and in the packing areas.

Work areas are equipped to ensure cleanliness.

The packing houses are scrubbed and sanitized every day. Here a team member is washing the floor to prepare the facility for the next day's work.
Diligence

Every package of dates must pass through a metal detector to screen for foreign objects.

Responsibility

Traceback - A laser beam burns a unique code into each box. This code provides information which can be used to trace each box of fruit back to the field in which it was grown.
